Voice Thru The Body Series TBA

Voice Thru the Body

Exploring the Voice as the “muscle of the soul” (Roy Hart)

Voice Thru the Body monthly series is coming back to Berkeley. We had so much fun singing together at MOC as well as at the Community Singing Circles series in 2015 and we want it back. Planning to re-open the practice again soon. Keep in touch.

Voice explorations contact energy sources in the body which inform us of the many authentic qualities, characters, pitches and tones expressing each unique individual. Whether sounding, speaking or singing, the body’s freedoms and tensions are revealed through the voice.

Embracing improvisational exercises and somatic principles and practices from Contact Improvisation, Alexander Technique, Laban/Bartenieff, Body-Mind Centering, and Authentic Movement, this class will provide a rich and challenging laboratory for the person interested in deepening the resonance of their physical and vocal expression.

World music including Balkan and African singing at the end of each class will allow indigenous forms to bridge us back into the every day world. All levels welcome.
